Care Ministry Purpose
“To attend to the needs of others in a manner that demonstrates God’s love for them through offering the hope, support and encouragement that is needed in their presenting situation.”
People within our church family often have issues that leave them hospitalized, homebound or in need of receiving care of some other kind, and it is our desire to join with them in offering the relational, emotional, spiritual and practical support that they may desire and need. It is with this in mind that we want to offer ourselves as God’s instruments of hope and healing.
The Bible has many references that reflect the manner in which we are to demonstrate care for others. The following are just a few:
“Praise be to the God and Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” (2Corinthians 1: 3-4)
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up…” (l Thess. 5:11)
Hospital Visitation
Members of the care team offer support and encouragement to those who find themselves in the hospital. They assist the pastoral staff for the purpose of visitation, prayer, and reading scripture to help people through the recovery of an illness.
Homebound Visitation
The care team strives to visit the homebound from our church on a weekly basis. Team members desire to be instrumental in helping others to grow in faith and hope by offering support and encouragement. For those that desire communion, an Elder is available to serve them.
Nursing Home Visitation
We are happy to visit those in the nursing home. We believe it is a privilege to minister to those who have made it to this season in their life. It is a joy to visit, share scripture, laugh, cry, and pray with these dear saints. We try to visit those in the nursing homes at least once a week.
The following is a partial list of what is available through the Care Ministries at Trinity Church:
-
Bereavement - If someone in your family has died, we can provide a pastor to do the funeral service, and provide a luncheon for the family.
-
Elders - Our Elder Board are committed to minister to the congregation through prayer, guidance, financial assistance, ministering communion and other various ways.
-
Counseling - Trinity offers guidance to those who need a safe place to process life’s challenging situations. Our lay counselors are attentive and compassionate.
-
Prayer Chain - If you are in need of prayer because of a situation in your life, you can call the church and be placed on the prayer chain. From the initial phone call the request will quickly be shared with a large number of people who believe in the power of prayer.
-
Meals - If you have just had a baby, been in the hospital, or had some other presenting need, you may need care in the way of a meal. Our small groups provide this care to one another to help in times of need. If you are not in a small group, call the church office for assistance at 432-4070.
-
Prayer List - If you would like your prayer request to appear in our Sunday bulletin insert "The Journey," contact Connie Hustedt at the church by 10:00 AM on Thursday. If you would like to have your request remain confidential, fill out the Communication Card in the Sunday bulletin and place it in the offering. Members of the Prayer Team and the staff will pray for your concerns.
