The following information presents eight current Lay Care Ministry activities at Trinity Church. If you would like to become involved in providing care as described below, or if you (or someone you know within our church family) might benefit from receiving care in one of these areas, please email Pastor Todd at todd@mytrinity.tv or contact the church office at 815.698.5047.

Lay Care Ministry Activities

Caring Cards Ministry - This ministry involves the coordinated making and/or sending of cards to people in need. Recipients of these cards might include people needing general encouragement and/or those in the hospital, nursing home, homebound situations, etc. 

Helping Hands Ministry - This ministry involves assisting people with basic home repairs, casual house cleaning, etc. 

Transportation Ministry - This ministry involves providing people with local transportation to activities such as church events, medical appointments and grocery shopping. 

Errands Ministry - This ministry involves running local errands for those in need to address issues related to grocery shopping or other forms of general assistance. 

Meals on Wheels Ministry - This ministry involves providing a meal for a person or family in response to a short-term need (i.e. following the birth of a child or general recuperation from a medical procedure). 

Hospitality Ministry - This ministry involves activities associated with funeral dinners specific to the set-up and tear-down of tables and chairs, organizing and serving food, or being on a contact list to provide food. 

Visitation Ministry - This ministry involves active visitation to people in homebound, hospital or nursing home environments. 

Benevolence Ministry - This ministry involves providing financial and general assistance to those in need. Eligibility for assistance requires the completion of an application and a formal interview with members of the benevolence team.

Support Groups

GriefShare - This 13-week support group is designed for people who are experiencing grief in response to the death of a friend or loved on. Each week begins with the viewing of a DVD video segment featuring top experts speaking on grief and recovery subjects. These videos are produced in an interesting-to-watch format featuring expert interviews, real-life case studies, dramatic reenactments and on-location video. The viewing of these videos is followed by group discussion. In addition to group interaction, each participant will have a  workbook with readings and exercises to be completed throughout the week.

The suggested donation for involvement in this group is $15, which covers the expense of the workbook. DivorceCare - This 13-week support group is designed for people who have experienced the hardships associated with separation or divorce. Each week begins with the viewing of a DVD video segment. These videos cover topics essential to one's recovery from the difficulties associated with separation or divorce. The videos are produced in a compelling television magazine format and feature on-location video and real-life stories of people who have experienced divorce. The viewing of these videos is followed by group discussion. In addition to group interaction, each DivorceCare participant will have a workbook with readings and exercises to be completed throughout the week. Group sessions are offered twice a year, with the next sessions in the fall of 2012 and spring of 2013.

Celebrate Recovery - This is a Christ-centered recovery program designed for those struggling with addictive behaviors.  It is designed to minister to anyone suffering from alcohol, drug, gambling, sexual or smoking addictions as well as, eating disorders, anger, pride, depression, control or any other hurt, habit or hang-up that harms your relationship with God or others.  By applying Biblical principles, the program allows you to become free from your addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors.
